Magazine analysis - SFX Magazine

 
 
 
  • Key image: Multiple horror icons spread across the cover. Use of blood splatters to create an eerie and gory image.

  • Straplines: 'The ultimate guide to big screen scares!'- This anchors the key image as 'Big Screen' is paired with classic horror icons such as Michael Myers from Halloween and Leather Face from Texus Chainsaw Massacre. Using big name horror villains shows that the magazine is going through the best of horror films that have made it onto the 'Big Screen', suggesting they were highly successful

Also, the use of blood splatter on the title and around the cover suggest that the content will be quite gory and violent. The classic use of red, white and black emphasise more on the horror conventions of the cover
